We stayed at La Penesais for 4 nights but could have stayed for a month. This isn't your average holiday let. Everything about the property is first class. La Penesais is in a quiet location on the outskirts of Beaumont en Veron and a short drive (5-10 minutes) into the heart of Chinon. The first thing that struck us was the beautiful garden that greets you as you drive/walk/cycle through the magnificent 100 year old gates. We stayed in the lodge, which is the smaller of the two properties and we were very happy as soon as we walked through the doors. The lounge/kitchen area is extremely well and tastefully furnished. No comfort has been spared and everything is very well thought out. The bedroom is beautiful and, because of the shutters, stayed cool despite the hot weather. The bed, pillow and bedding are of high quality and there was plentiful hot water and storage in the ensuite shower room. We like to self cater on some evenings during our stays in France to take advantage of the beautiful produce and the kitchen at the lodge made this very easy to do as it was fully equipped. And it was a real treat sitting outside in the evening sun in the lodge's dedicated garden area. Bruno and Anne are extremely kind and attentive. They are a really lovely couple who were at pains to emphasise that we should let them know if there was anything else that we needed. Communication with them was easy and prompt and they were able to provide a wealth of information about the area. They have two beautiful dogs but they are kept under control and away from the holiday lets and guests unless (as was the case with us) you actively encourage their company (but never allowed into the properties themselves). We enjoyed our stay so much that we are already planning a longer return trip next year. Thank you Bruno and Anne for a memorable stay.

Tres beau gîte avec une tre belle décoration

Avec notre petit bébé nous venons de passer quelques jours à La Pénesais dans le gîte « Le bonheur de Ronsard ».
Le gîte était parfait ! Très fonctionnel, joliment décoré, lumineux et d’une propreté irréprochable.
Le jardin et ses beaux rosiers sont magnifiques tout comme le cadre dans lequel se situe la propriété (à deux pas de Chinon).
Anne et Bruno (ainsi que les très beaux goldens) sont imminement sympathiques et de très bons conseils. Nous avons été accueillis chaleureusement et avons même eu droit à notre arrivée à une très bonne bouteille de vin de Chinon. Nous invitons les prochains hôtes à se rendre sur le site internet du gîte qui est remarquablement bien fait !
Nous recommandons vivement ce gîte qui répondra à coup sûr à vos attentes !

We stayed at La Pénesais with our baby and were absolutely delighted with the place.
The accommodation is lovely and spotlessly clean; the furniture are in excellent condition, it smells fresh, the beds are comfortable, and it is fully equipped with everything you need in a holiday rental. The two bedrooms are very spacious, and the private terrace with small folding deckchairs is a wonderful spot to sit in the evening. Despite the heat, the stone house stays cool during the day, and you can open the windows at night to let in the breeze. It offers excellent value for money.
The property is located in a small residential area just outside the village, right next to a cycle path. The region’s cycle paths are nice—well-maintained and offering plenty of shade. It is very quiet and peaceful at night, ensuring a good night's sleep.
We have stayed in many holiday rentals over the years, and we can say that Anne and Bruno are the best hosts we have ever met. They are incredibly attentive, friendly, and caring, and they genuinely enjoy conversation. It was a daily pleasure to talk with them. Thank you Anne and Bruno, we love to come back!

La Penesais was certainly full of charm as were our hosts, Anne and Bruno, who did all they could to make our stay as comfortable and enjoyable a possible.  The fresh flowers added to the beautiful decor.  The location and secure parking was perfect for our experience of the Chinon Classique. We were lucky enough to experience La Penesais. Anne and Bruno are wonderful hosts. Our cottage was very clean and inviting, providing everything we needed during our stay.

Eine wunderbare Unterkunft verbunden mit toller Gastfreundschaft!

Wir verbrachten dort 10 Tage und kochten oft selbst.
Das Haus hat großzügige Räume, die bis ins letzte Detail schön gestaltet sind. Es ist sehr sauber und sehr geschmackvoll. Man fühlt sich wie in den „Landliebe“-Heften, bloß ohne Kitsch.
Das Geschirr passt zum Landhaus-Stil und die Küche ist voll ausgestattet mit Nespresso-Maschine, Heißluft-Fritteuse, Mikrowelle, Toaster, elektrischem Grill, Holzkohlegrill etc. Es wurde wirklich an alles gedacht.
Hinter der Küche liegt eine große Terrasse, die ganz privat ist mit einer fantastischen Rosenwand. Morgens und mittags hat man hier Sonne. Abends kann man vor dem Haus abgeschirmt die Abendsonne genießen.
Der Garten ist noch viel schöner als auf den Bildern. Er ist toll angelegt mit sich abgrenzenden Bereichen und üppig blühend.
Die Fahrräder kann man in einem großen Schuppen mit
Schlössern anbinden und die Akkus aufladen.
Besonders gefiel uns die Gastfreundschaft der Vermieter, die hilfreich waren bei allen Fragen und Anliegen und uns gute Tipps gaben, wo wir den besten Bäcker finden, welche Schlösser interessant sind und auf welch wunderbaren Wegen wir dorthin fahren konnten, ohne die größeren Straßen nehmen zu müssen.

We stayed for 4 nights in Bruno and Anne’s beautiful gite.  The accommodation is wonderful – spacious, beautifully decorated and very comfortable. There is a large living /dining room with well-equipped kitchen, and a huge bedroom with ensuite bathroom. The house is typically French, with large gates to the courtyard which has a delightful garden which can be enjoyed by the guests.  Bruno and Anne (and their beautiful Goldens Loulou and Biscuit) are fabulous hosts, we were welcomed with fresh flowers and a bottle of wine and lots of information on the area and sights to see.  I am disabled and chose this property because it’s all on one level with only one small step at the entrance.  It has lots of room for wheelchair users and a great walk-in shower.  During our stay something broke on my mobility scooter and Bruno was kind enough to get his toolbox out and help my husband to fix it.
